    Memories of an Italian February

In February of this year I went on a tour of Northern Italy; Milan, Venice, Verona, Florence, and Rome.  I returned to a very busy work schedule and have only now really looked at my photos from that trip.  Here are a few more of my favorite memories. For even more photos of Italy, including past vacations, go to my Italy section link in the Travel Photo Bank.

Inside The Doge's Palace of Venice.

It was wonderful to be in Venice for Carnival on such a beautiful day.

Naples is not the only city in Italy with a fantastic galleria - Milan has the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II! Very Steampunkt, no?

Ah Rome! The Trevi Fountain. Where are my three coins?

The interior of St. John's Cathedral, Rome.

In the Church of the Catacombs, Rome. (Hand held, low light.)

Although Rome is a modern, bustling city, there are ancient Roman ruins everywhere.

A Night at the Thai Drag Races

I went out t the Bangkok Drag Avenue last night to pay my shop rent.  My friend Khun O had his Nissan Silvia out for shake down runs for the first time with his imported 632 cu.in. big block Chevy. It was fun to hear the roar of a race big block V-8 again.

Khun O checking last minute details.

This is what the new 1000hp, 632 cu.in. dual quad, NOS injected Chevy big block looks like in Khun O's racer.

His car drew a lot of interest and excitement from the Thai race fans.

Khun O ready to do his burn out.  Testing a new race combination, especially with such a major increase in horsepower from the last engine combination, is tricky. It went well.

Khun O's able crew push the racer back after the burn-out.

A little sideways right off the line . . .

. . . but Khun O pulled it back on line and made a straight run.  This is the first run with this engine and was considered a "Shake Down Run" to make sure all systems were working.

    News From The Garden

I saw a new flower in my garden today I had never seen before., so I went inside and got my camera (Canon 40D).  The new flower is beautiful . . . . but wait, what is that bug on the Bird of Paradise . . . .

    The new flower.

I was happy to have had my Sigma 70mm macro lens on at the time . . . . to be able to take HAND HELD photos like this!

    Wondrous Nature!

    Thanks Par!

Neice Par had fun with her new photo software at our family get-together last night.  Here are a couple of the results.

    Oh yes! In The Matrix!

60's psychedelia. Gee wiz, I wonder what that was like?

The Heraldic Banner Capitol of the World: Thailand

Nobody, and I do mean NO BODY, does heraldic banners like they do in Thailand. They Love their King in Thailand (rightfully) and they love to show that love in their heraldic banners. First in a series.

On the main  road leading into Hua Hin, Thailand, the Thai King's beach residence.

Outside of Hua Hin again: The Thai King in various favorite portraits.  Beautiful.
