    My most current blog entry:

Mt. Aso, Japan - an active volcano.

We had a nice day with a bus tour around all the volcanic region east of Fukuoka (Mt. Aso) - and topped it off with a long soak in the onsen (hot tub). Next was a wonderful meal at our Yufuin B&B.

The countryside around Fukuoka is very wooded and rugged.  It was a nice change to be back in nature after the cities of bangkok and Fukuoka.

People in Japan were very helpful, and we found English-speakers when we needed to figure out what to do (like suburban train stations!).

Overall the food was great, although it must be said that the food is the same wherever you go: order tempura in one place and you get identical tempura in the next place!

    Japanese Holiday.

Day One:  I am currently on vacation in and around Fukuoka, Japan. The food has been great! Squid sashimi doesn't get any fresher than this: it was still wiggling on the plate . . . and looking at you. (iPhone upload to SquareSpace)

    Jordan Sign

Roadside sign near the Dead Sea, Jordan. Go to my Jordan Travel Photo Bank for more.

    Testing, 1, 2, 3.

Squarespace (this blog's host) now has an iPhone app -- and this is the test posting. I took this photo at last week-end's Malaysian F-1 race in the Vintage F-1 race car tent with my iPhone . . . and submitted this posting directly from my iPhone. Pretty cool!

    Malaysian Formula One Race!

I attended the Formula One race at the Sepang race track in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 3 & 4, 2010.

Massa qualifying in the wet -- and on the brakes!

Renault! Wet conditions during qualifying left several top teams out of the top positions due to bad tire selection.  It sure was fun for the fans!

Rain was expected on Race Day, but it never materialized: the fast cars at the back had to fight their way through the field.

I like the current state of F-1 rules: the cars are very interesting looking.

There are several new teams in Formula One.  This is the Virgin Air Team.  Their goal was to just finish.

The winner Vettel (near) and runner-up Webber.  A Red Bull 1 and 2!

Michael Schumacher returned to F-1 after a three year "retirement" . .  and did well in the Braun/Mercedes.

Even the Safety Car at an F-1 race is special.  This is the new gull-wing Mercedes-Benz!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a very nice city to visit.

Our [very good] view from the stands at the very good Sepang Circuit.  Ah, the sound of a Formula One V-8 race engine at 17,000 RPM! Enjoy!
